Nelson Mandela, the former President of South Africa and Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 1993, passed away on the night of December 5, 2013.
Mandela was the first black president of South Africa, a fighter against apartheid, a prisoner of conscience, and the leading African politician of the 20th century. He was 95 years old.
