          'Something About Mary' honors Ryan Mone

          There was something about Ryan Mone that impressed Peter and Robert Farrelly.

          So much so that when the young hockey star from West Tisbury died in a New Year's Eve car crash, the movie directors and screenwriters dedicated their latest movie, "There's Something About Mary," to his memory.

          "He was a year-old kid and I'm a year-old guy, but when you bumped into him, you really connected.

          He had a spark," Peter Farrelly said Tuesday.

          Mone was a senior honor roll student at Martha's Vineyard Regional High School and a defenseman on the Martha's Vineyard Hockey Team. His family got to know the Farrelly family during their vacations on the Vineyard and golfing at the Country Club of New Seabury.

          The Farrelly brothers, creators of "Dumb and Dumber" and "Kingpin," developed a special affection for Ryan.
